MEG HONEY PARRY

COUNSELLOR

With a Master’s in Counselling completed in 2025, Meg knew the path she wanted to take - supporting the arts and sports community in Perth. With her professional career in ballet and the last four years spent working in mental health services, Meg is passionate about changing the stigma around mental health in the arts and sports and strengthening minds as well as bodies.

Meg’s interest comes from seeing the dance world from the inside and what it can do to artists that aren’t well supported. The constant strain to be “enough” or “be seen” can be mentally exhausting, compounded by the body image, nutritional, training and mental expectations of an artist. Meg has seen the highs and the lows and has learnt from experience how hard it can be. She hopes to be the support she had for others.

Her passion for the arts started at age five, in Brisbane, at a small ballet school and flourished into gymnastics and musical instruments throughout primary school. Eventually landing her back in a performing arts school called The Dance Works in Brisbane. There, she grew her appreciation of ballet, contemporary, tap, jazz, hip hop, drama, singing and performing. Meg moved to WA at 17 years old to train at WAAPA, during which she completed a cruise ship contract before returning to finish her degree. Meg joined The West Australian Ballet company in 2008 as a young artist and never looked back, rising to demi soloist in 2012. She went on to join Les Grands Ballets du Montreal, Canada in 2018. Meg retired from the stage in 2020 and went on to study Occupational Therapy and work in Mental Health hospitals around Perth.

Meg wanted to give back to the arts community aside from her teaching, completing her Master of Counselling in 2025. She is excited to be able to nurture artists of all ages and styles to support their own mental strength and become the best they can be. Meg is passionate about being an inclusive and LGBTQI+ therapist and is excited to be fortunate enough to support the artists of Perth and beyond.
